Fusing cultural symbols, clashing colors, and unique style linguistics, Designer Li Gong looks back to a golden age of youth. “Wait Rose!” has gained momentum and empowered Chinese fashion on a global scale, allotting deserved recognition to Chinese designers internationally. Merging past and future, old and young, “Wait Rose!” is a homage to the transience of youth and it’s brief moment of gaudy sacredness. Each season of 8ON8 merges past and future. For the A/W 2020 show, he envisages a high-end private party for aging celebrities in a luxury private club hosted in a virtual community, all assembled by 8ON8.

This collection is a key departure for 8ON8. Gong seeks wholeness from different factors of design and styling, all coming together to showcase various professions, identities, and personalities at this grand ball. With clashing high saturation colors, flowers are in bloom and youth is on fire. Young models are notably aged with makeup to give a sense of future and humor.

8ON8’ A/W 2020 season also features a collaboration with Italian Sportswear brand, Kappa. Their sensitivity to color outlines the pair’s beaming production. At the 50th anniversary of Kappa’s “Omini Logo,” designer Li Gong translates the classic logo into his own design paying homage with an exclusive hand-washed satin tracksuit—a recognizable icon in youth culture.

Li Gong materializes the energy of youth. Fresh pattern cuts and tempered proportions distinguishes what a future for men’s fashion may engender. Fusing futuristic properties with fleeting youth, Gong combines technical and traditional fabrics transcending and fusing categories of sportswear and tailoring on a global scale.
