As she approaches the one-year anniversary of her eyewear brand GODSOMWARE, she ponders on her artistic tendencies and possible futures in non-material works.

So, if we start off by you introducing yourself.
I'm Aggie Nam. Based in South Korea. I make eyeglass-shaped facial accessories. I run a brand named GODSOMWARE (@godsomware)

How do you perceive the evolution of your creations for GODSOMWARE? How did your pieces develop into what they are today?
At first, I started off by imitating others and then I think I've been imitating myself too. I keep adding and subtracting from what I've made before, creating new things. Watching a lot of other people's work is one of the things I don't miss every day.

I know you also illustrate. Do you work within any other creative realms?
I was drawing some sketches before, but I haven’t done it for a while because I was distracted by making glasses for a while. However, I hope that I can go back to drawing really soon and eventually I’m dreaming of me doing non-material works for example like 3D but I’m not sure what I’ll want to do eventually. Not yet sure.

What are your key inspirations or fascinations? Do you have any figures or events that have been particularly influential to you, through personal or a more external connection?
My main inspiration is the others on Instagram. I see new things on Instagram and work under the influence. Things that seem to have nothing to do with me often seem to provide new inspiration. So, I try to see a lot of new things every day.

Do you have any tendencies or ceremonies in the formation or development of your concepts?
I always stick to the next thing better than the previous one. But if I'm satisfied with more than 51% of my new work, I don't hide it. I believe in 'the more the better’. I’ve learnt in my life that perfectionism is not the right answer, at least for me.

Some see themselves as intertwined with their work, their creations as their expressive offspring. Others feel more disconnected or independent from the work they create. How do you relate to your creations?
I feel like I'm far from my work, even though I always show my face because my workpieces are glasses.

How do you compare the creative industries in Germany to Korea?
I've never thought about it that way, so I'm not sure. Korea seems quick and sensitive. Germany seems to have a slow but heavy center. I don't know. It's just my feeling.

Describe your utopia
Maybe a world where everyone is vegan.

Can you tell us anything about what’s next on the horizon for you? Do you have any other projects you’re excited about right now?
I'm going to have my first exhibition around 15th November at @whitenoiseseoul. 15th November is my brand GODSOMWAREs one-year anniversary. After that I’m planning to go to Germany this December and I will apply for an art school again. Last time I applied for a German art school, I was rejected. I wish I could enter this time.
