The collection, titled ''mens/is SS16'' investigates the layered, often contradictory nature of human identity. Through the subversion of form, materiality and gender codes, the collection challenges constructed ideas of the 'real' - what makes something authentic and acceptable? Conceptually driven by performance and gender studies, while being visually influenced by contemporary artists such as Julia Dault and Eddie Roberts, the collection challenges assumptions about male dress and masculinity by engaging with textile, cut and garment type. In collaboration with a film photographer, the images attempt to engage with soft, graceful masculinity that also hints at gender ambiguity.
