Dominika Kozakova SS20
Rebel. Provocateur. Following on from 2018 in which she presented her collection FREAK SHOW on Mercedes Benz Prague Fashion Week and in Maastricht, Holland on Fashionclash festival 2018; Dominika Kozáková recounts the memories of her childhood nightmares and her experience of the London underground club scene in her new SS20 collection ‘Fading Spells’.
By drawing in inspiration from three disparate elements; seamlessly incorporating inspiration from the Harajuku girls’ street fashion culture into the collection, Kozáková has developed a strong visual platform expressing beliefs, conflicts, dreams and live celebration. Fading Spells tempts society to free itself from formalism and restrictive logic. Here, Lena Luga’s photography depicts an indistinct hyperreality where the depth and form of feeling inthe Kozáková’s design unmistakably reflects the revolutionary culture of the youth in all its forms.
“As a child I often suffered with night terrors. I used to see visions of stairways on fire, dragons, snakes and all kinds of spells almost every night. My nightmares were so live like and scary, that I could feel on my body how the dream was consuming me. I am not afraid of creatures anymore, because I know that through clothing, I can easily become anyone or anything...even a dragon.”
