Estileras SS20

Estileras SS20

Estileras’ pieces open a dialogue for what happens when fashion’s traditions are inverted, proudly displaying the backstage processes behind each look for Estileras Manuals SS20 on How to Produce a Runway Show live for more than 6 hours. With the makeup, prosthetics, clothing and print process performed in front of everyone, the brand shed light on the realities of producing garments whilst crediting each contributing member of the team who would otherwise go unseen. The runway show was then presented as a “brief summary of what really matters”, criticising the priorities of the fashion industry today.

The looks themselves comment on today’s society, with old fabrics scrawled and stencilled on then stitched and safety pinned together, further fuelling interest in reusing and recycling clothing. The materials are even layered on top of each other, creating striking silhouettes that transform the bodies of the models. Estileras’ vision doesn’t just lie in the clothing but the makeup and prosthetics which expand the parameters of the imagination. The model’s skin is moulded and distorted into shapes that add to the performative and anarchic qualities of the collection.
