German fashion label GmbH's Autumn 2023 collection is a departure from their usual style. Rather than incorporating personal narratives and politics into their designs, they focus solely on pure aesthetics and form, leaving the meaning up to the cut, fabric, finishing, colors, and body. With this approach, the designers aim to explore the freedom of pure aesthetics and challenge the idea that everything in fashion has to be political or imbued with meaning.
The collection features boxy satin wool suits with contrasting satin stoles, dresses in jersey, sheer mesh, or velvet fitted with utilitarian zippers or fake fur, and ankle boots with a middle zipper running to the front of the sole. Bows of all sizes decorate tailored coats and off-the-shoulder tops, while sharp and angular platform pumps and ankle boots are part of their first women's collection. The collection also features a new ASICS trainer collaboration, palladium silver earrings, and aerodynamic and utilitarian silver eyewear with mirrored lenses. The formal presentation includes live music by LABOUR and gestures by CITY BALLET CORP's dancers, stripping the show back to its form as a reaction to the overwhelming noise in today's world.
