To celebrate the release of her new single ‘CHERRY BOMB’, we chatted to Isabella Lovestory about birdezillas, extremities and new horizons.

What’s your favourite meal?

Fried fish, rice and beans and green plantain – my childhood dish.

What was growing up in Honduras like? And then what brought you to Canada?

It was colourful, loud, vibrant, serene but also intense. I moved to Canada with my family because my mum got a job there.

Do you think you’d be a bridezilla?

Yes, but only for the look of it.

It sounds like you grew up surrounded by music. I read that your father was a radio DJ. How did you develop your own individual taste in music and come to your siren sound?

I was always surrounded by all types of music, and when I was a lonely Tumblr girl with no friends, I was obsessed with discovering new things on the internet. I guess my music is a collage of my eclectic taste.

You also have a very strong aesthetic. What are some key references for you and the image that is Isabella Lovestory?

I like looking like a weird and unique candy that you find in the most remote place imaginable. Romantic, electric, eccentric, sexy, shiny, colourful, fun, carefree.

Can you tell me about the evolution of ‘Sex Amor Dinero’?

I love being hit by dollar bill stacks; I love hardcore love. This one simply sounds and explains what I think is sexy, which is romance, extreme amounts money and lots of sex. Sensory overload. As if an alien comes down to earth and experiences the hottest things being a human has to offer (sex, love, money) and gets addicted to them, can’t get enough.

So, you love extremes. What draws you to extremes?

Maybe because I’m a Sagittarius with a Scorpio stellium. I like bold things.

If you released a fragrance, what would it be called and what would it smell like?

It would be called “Fuck” and it would smell like burning candy.

If you designed a planet – ‘the World of Isabella Lovestory’ – what would it be like?

It would be filled with wild overgrown gardens and no animal would go extinct. The water would be fountain of youth water; the trees would be encrusted with diamonds and money would grow from them.
