Recently relocating to Los Angeles, the Australian-Liverpudlian born vocalist and producer KUČKA, is excited to start this new chapter of her life. Establishing herself as a female-producer in a male dominant industry, Jane Lowther is paving the way and inspiring girls and women to pursue their goals regardless of the obstacles they may face. With the release of her latest single “Real”, and her upcoming album scheduled to come out 2020, KUČKA is just getting started.

What sparked the decision to move to Los Angeles? Did you feel it was necessary at this point in your career? Or has L.A. always been somewhere you wanted to live?
I never imagined I would live in LA. Tbh when I first came here I didn't fall in love with the city. After spending time here working a few years ago I realized that you really need to get to know all the special little spots (and there are soooo many of them). The city rewards curiosity which I love. I moved here on a whim and now I couldn't imagine being anywhere else. For now.

What are some of the hardships you have had to face contributing to a male-dominated industry?
Everyone constantly asking 'who produced this??' it's usually me. Also whenever I work with any man, they get all the credit. I'm kind of over that now though.

What is your creative process? Have you always been drawn to the type of music you make?
It changes for every project. Sometimes I start with a word, sometimes a single sound that I love, but I always try to create moods and imagery. I have always loved how rich you can make electronic music sound, you can really fill the full spectrum - almost like an orchestra in a box.

Do you feel that musicians starting out their careers in smaller towns hold a disadvantage at large?
No way. Small towns are a place for incubation and experimentation.

How has living in Australia changed your music? Are you inspired by landscapes and the different scenic experiences?
Definitely. I don't think you can help but be inspired by the things around you. Whether that's people, scenery, objects. It's all-important, that's why I always choose wisely who I surround myself with. Especially in LA!
