Martine Rose ss21
Martine Rose’s ss21 collection offers both hyper-masculine and feminine characteristics as she plays with the colours and textures in order to explore this gender fluid approach. For example, one of the looks pairs a delicate lace cami top with straight leg jeans and chunky loafers modelled by a male model.
The juxtaposition of this is carried on throughout all of the looks with some of the more masculine pieces worn by female models as well. Martine Rose was influenced by the 1970’s underground gay scene in San Francisco as she has used found images from this period to inspire the patterns within her collection. However, the main theme that runs throughout the collection is sportswear’s vs businesswear. Martine has beautifully intertwined the two opposites to create a harmony of suits with trackies or football socks with pencil skirts.
