Metamorphosis as Living
How do you navigate through an intangible fabric of reality? When the world behind the camera lens and the world you see through your screen appear to be one and the same?
Metamorphosis as Living offers more than just a look – it transcends human-centrality in order to communicate the energy a space can hold all on its own. It chooses to focus on the relationship one can cultivate with the environment and the very real life from which it is composed.
Starring the movement and multi-disciplinary artist MaggZ, and featuring the 3D visualization and photography by interdisciplinary artist Yanti Peng, the piece situates our capacity to learn within a place. Expressed through the progressing deconstruction of the 3D headpiece, metamorphosis occurs through interaction with space, and the deterioration of the human-centric lens through which our digital realm has been composed.
This place-based learning foregrounds the relationality between human and non-human lifeforms, displaying the physical, cognitive, spiritual, and socio-emotional experiences which foreground the heterogeneity of all beings. The filter through which we view life transforms into something far beyond ourselves, as the digital realm, and the elements from which we are made, converge to create a place to reside in.
