Mila van der Linden
Psychoforlove is about the thirst for losing control in club. In her song Dutch artist Mila van der Linden confronts you with fear and at the same time hits you with the deep-rooted longing for homecoming. It unites clashing emotions like motherlove and antipathy whilst seeking for comfort in a sometimes-lonely distorted surrounding. Eerie atmosphere mixed with restless gabber-style sound make for an ambivalent but addictive experience. Mila says: “I was trying to explain this feeling to my mother and she actually understood it when she heard the song”.
The multimedia artist doesn’t restrict to one medium. Already before, Mila combined the visuals she created with her own soundscapes, but this year she shifted her focus to finishing songs. The release of her first EP is scheduled for April 2021. In the video for Psychoforlove Mila created a trippy setting capturing herself and her mother, dressed for going out, dancing in the dark outside of a suburban house. Particularly impressive are mother Patricia Orlow’s close-ups as she stares blankly into the camera, the only emotions coming from the flickering, colorful strobe lights reflecting her face. Overall, it thus reinforces the ambiguity of feelings resonating in the sound.
Listen to Psychoforlove and let yourself be enchanted by its force.
