Shown at Paris Men’s Fashion Week, Taipei brand Necessity Sense has dropped their latest SS20 collection ‘Act of Desire’. With a backdrop of deep blue velvet curtains, their most recent show was inspired by the atmosphere of a dreamy retro psychedelic club scene - with disco and laser lights as well as smoke adding to the ambiance. The collection asks the questions: ‘What do you desire in an endless pool of possibilities? What makes a difference when you’ve become numb, due to an overexposure of endless information?’ It’s highly reflective on the current social state of the world and the life addictions we face - re-focusing us on what matters: ‘to slow down, to appreciate and to look back’. As a whole, the label aims to tell stories on unspoken cultural issues. This seasons looks include custom shirts, denim patterns, brightly colored silks, deconstructed knits, flowers and psychedelic artwork - nostalgic for Asian culture of the 60’s, 80’s and up until the 2000’s.
