@neontalk
Meet Hilding Bengtsson: A self proclaimed retro nerd and digital connoisseur of all things 80’s.
Are you an artist yourself? What is your relationship with 80's design? Why is it so special to you?
I work as a digital designer, but one of my hobbies right now is to create video mashups. I have posted some of these in the @neontalk instagram feed. For example the “Spacer Women” (see video). I have always loved the catchy tunes from the 80’s synth music and now I have become very fond of 80’s design. The 80’s aesthetics is more interesting for the eye than any other decade, in my opinion.
If you were forced to transform into a movie character from an 80's film, which would you choose?
Falkor in “The NeverEnding Story”.
What is your secret to curating images on a platform like Instagram?
I analyze every single image before I post it: Do you get a ”wow” feeling (it could be cool, weird, unusual, pretty…)? Does it match the @neontalk feed as a whole? Is the quality of the image good enough, or what could be done?
I also do creative and inspirational collaborations with other retro artist/accounts, which gives me more exclusive content.
Are you addicted to the 80s or is it a healthy relationship?
I am retro nerd, and I enjoy design, music and fashion. It could be from the 40’s or the 60’s or whenever in the past, but the 80’s surely have a special place in my heart.
