Newspeak
Newspeak welcomes you into a surrealist world, one of Salvador Dali’s, and George Orwell’s 1984. A dystopian novel that doesn’t seem to be so dystopian anymore isadapted in a world that ironically reflects modern day England. A world overwhelmed withsatirical characters, each with their own disturbing impact. However, some are still holding ontoa hope for the better. Each character encompasses London’s very own slang, a visualrepresentation of diction. A new language has been created through the careful placement of abstract forms and colours.
A fairytale that is not-so-dreamy. You have the leaders, the followers, and the dreamers. A visual diary that will make you question whether you’re the puppet or the puppet master.
PENGPIGEON: An optimist to say the least. A face that radiates a sense of hope. Hope for the better. Hope that his peers will eventually be able to stop such irrational behavior and thinking. Pengpigeon, will continue to serve and preserve as a promising symbol.
GASSEDIGANS: Oh the Gassedigans, they tend to put themselves on a physical and mentalpedestal. They carry themselves with vulgarity, as they ooze an aggressive power that leaves youunsettled.
BUTTERSBORIS: A man of many words. Nonsense is riddled in his diction, some might say it makes him a tad horrifying or even slightly unconventional to look at. Unfortunately he is still referred to as our very own Big Brother. His delicate exterior attracts innocence, as he spends hisdays with adolescents. Little do they know that, looks can be deceiving.
PEAKNOCCHIO: It see’s with its sight hindered. It listen’s with its ears covered. It walk’s around with sharp edges, stinging people unconsciously. Its sting results in a terrifying case of an illusion, almost like a facade. A dishonest realm will slowly but eventually start to surround you. Until you are overwhelmed with a constant case of falsehood.
TAPPEDTHERESA: A rare species, one you can find longing around in Britains very own Broadwater estate. A public figure with a face unknown or even unrecognizable. Why? You mayask. It's because she has so many.
