iPhone photos taken of the 8x10 negatives after development process is finished

Thomas Hauser is a German photographer known for his series of still photographs of flowers and women. Hauser’s black and white photos are shot on large format cameras on film. For exhibitions, Hauser prints them on a silver gelatin paper whereas for online display purposes, he began to photograph each 8x10 negative directly after taking it out of the developing process, which were then inverted into positives. His photos seek to amalgamate flowers with women so as to be synonymous with one another. Hauser attributes his interest in the erotic and forbidden through feminine objects and visuals to his austere Catholic raising. His photographs arouse a sense of uncertainty and oddness, but in a stunning and arresting manner. While the presence of the male gaze is unavoidable in these nude photos of women, Hauser denies any form of objectification of the female body in his photos. Instead, he seeks to capture the beauty in the form and individuality of his subjects.
