Saige Rowe
"three short physical movements followed by a general lull" (2106) is a short film by Coeval contributor, Saige Rowe. In Rowe's own words, the film is "[an] act of throwing together visual poetry, quickly forming physical movements into a familiar sentence structure." Each object, according to Rowe "[functions] more so as visual layers of text than functional storylines or scenes."
The film plays with varying tonalities of color with simple, but sharp gestures. It makes up for a short and sweet film you can't help but smile at. Rather than a cohesive narrative, Rowe creates a moving image that focuses in on details to texture and sounds.
Rowe currently lives and works in Conyers, Georgia. She graduated with a BFA from Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. In September, Rowe will have a solo exhibition at Species in Atlanta, Georgia.
