Painter Antonio Ricci was born in 1910 in Varese, Italy and was a student of Giuseppe Talamoni. His first exhibit was in 1925 in his hometown at the Exhibition of Art of Artists of the Upper Room (and markedly the youngest artist to have ever joined the group), while his first solo exhibition was in 1932 at the Prevosti Gallery. Ricci’s works are often portraits and landscapes executed as oil paintings. He is best known for the soft lighting in his works and the ease and harmony with which his subjects coincide with nature. The Italian painter was part of the Circle of Artists and in the collective union of Arte the Permanente in Milan. In 2000, to commemorate the late painter, the San Fermo Group set up a retrospective of his work at Villa Recalcati.
