Ari Marcopoulos
Photographer and filmmaker Ari Marcopoulous was born in 1957 in Amsterdam, but moved to New York in his early twenties where he assisted Andy Warhol. A key documenter of American culture, Marcopoulous is particularly known for his documentation of skate culture as well as hip hop and art. The Berkeley Art Museum exhibited the Dutch photographer’s first mid-career survey in the states in 2010 and he has collaborated with many including artist Kara Walker. He is currently based between California and New York.
