Constantin Brancusi
Sculptor, painter, and photographer Constatine Brancusi was born in 1876 in Hobita, Romania. Brancusi attended the École des Beaux-Arts from 1905 to 1907. He is known as one of the leading figures of modern sculpture. His interested in sculpting began with his work in wood carving that continued throughout his artistic career. Brancusi’s works display a reduced, pure form that the sculptor, himself, identifies as representation. The Romanian artists’s simplified works hail influences from Romanian folk art from Byzantine and Dionysian traditions. The artist greatly known for his Modernist works died in Paris in 1957.
