Feb 19 Cosmetic Tag Tournament

Cosmetic Tag Tournament is part of an ongoing series of images that explores the fashion world through unrecognisable, three-dimensional plains. The characters look like near-finished virtual sculptures, thrown through a blender that blurs and chops whole figures into mis-shaped fragments of space-time. The characters are bold, deconstructed and exaggerated, a throwback to early video game graphics and the work of Jean-Paul Goude.

The story is this: the worldwide make-up artists tournament is nearing its finale, with a large financial reward and title of ‘Queen of the Golden Mascara’ at stake for the winner who defeats Isamaya French in the last round. The Nars Foundation, an evil corporation, are the ones ruling the sponsorship. Death matches run rife, with competitors battling each other to first blood for the prestigious award.

The main character, Athena Paginton, is Isamaya’s biological daughter who was throw into a Snazaroo ravine by her mother as a child. Barely surviving the fall, Athena enters the tournament to exact revenge on the ones who betrayed her.
