Garbage Core
Giuditta Tanzi created the design project ‘Garbage Core’ to give new life to the items of clothing we leave behind. The untouched and unwanted items of flea markets, vintage shops and even the things tucked away deep inside the closets of our friends and families is revived through careful dissection, completely bringing the piece of cloth back to its original state. Then, the garment is paired with other pieces of cloth to become a new, unique and one-of-a-kind piece that carries multiple stories from the composition, to the stitch and the occasional embroidery. “The idea of the project is to give a second birth to old clothes, but most importantly to keep their souls (and consequently those of the people that worn them before) intact,” explains Tanzi. Who cherishes the faults and holes of these garments - treating its errors as its key facet or even better, its soul and identity.
