Guardianangel School
Whimsical lamps uniquely hand-made borrow from Victorian aesthetics and mark the importance of craftsmanship and long-standing artifacts. Guardianangel School is a duo made of Brandon (@codeunknown_) & Stephanie (@nebluela), two fashion students with an affinity for vintage visual touchpoints like corsetry, lace trims, and rich-coloured fabrics.
The results are such carefully made sculptural forms that you can’t take your eyes off once illuminated. A mantra of producing lasting, tangible pieces of works actuate these sacred collectibles, which the pair have previously sold in variety store SSSSS in New York.
When did you begin creating?
We began creating the lamps together in August 2020.
How has the past year changed you or your creative process?
We were both feeling limited in our fashion program and decided to take time off from school. Being confined to our apartments we were eager to work together and experiment with new techniques, materials and mediums that weren’t within our original curricula.
Your works feature unique lamp forms merged with corsetry and antique-looking textiles. What are the allure of those two elements for you?
We’ve always been drawn to the meticulous hand work and fantasy that is unique to Victorian garments and textiles. The two of us have always gravitated towards items that stand the test of time, it’s just our taste. We try to avoid buying new pieces and parts, always looking for materials from the street, and use the antique garments for construction and aesthetic inspiration.

They’ve all been a different process, we start with a sketch and approach each one with the intent to try a new technique, color, or material. We meet every Sunday and take it from there.
Any hopes for the near or far future?
Make better, do better, work harder, keep working, everything needs to be better.
