Hån
HÅN is the solo project of Giulia Fontana, a sound and visual container to create alternative worlds where one can find refuge.
Raised in a small Italian town near Lake Garda, she started early to create her unique singer-songwriter style, blending experimental and dreamy production with pop melodies.
HÅN merges ethereal pop and dark, experimental melodies into a nostalgic yet captivating mix. Her concept of music is a dreamy atmosphere, delicate yet with character.
In the project, both music and image are fundamental to building a complete imaginary world, resembling almost a diary where words and images convey thoughts and experiences through a personal and intimate lens.
Hello Hån and welcome to Coeval! How would you introduce yourself to our community?
I am a music artist who loves experimenting with sound and visuals. I would describe my creative universe as soft yet chaotic
When did you first become interested in music?
I’ve been into music since I can remember but I started writing my own stuff only around the university years. As clichè as it sounds I’ve never been able to imagine myself not doing music in some way and I don’t think I ever will. It is a blessing and a curse.
Your music displays a dreamy and ethereal atmosphere; is this attempt to create otherworldly sonic landscapes a way to confront reality?
Everyone who does music is attempting to escape reality in some way. But to be honest, lately I’m more interested in the real world and social topics, meaning the world outside of myself, my thoughts, my circle, my friends, etc. Talking and thinking about my reality has started to feel restrictive and self-centered and I think it’s a place where everybody gets to at a certain point.
Music serves you as a sort of diary, so my question would be how do you imagine your “ideal” reader?
Someone curious, who cries a lot and probably has ADHD.
How do you envision the future of the project?
I’m really interested in developing the project both sonically and visually. I want the project to slowly turn into its own world in terms of sound and aesthetics, both for the recordings and for the live shows. Regarding the music itself, lately I’m kinda into vintage - classic Italian tunes, so I’m kinda going in that direction but who knows.
