Katrien de Blauwer works are created by repurposed images from old magazines and imbued with emotions. de Blauwer spins new narratives that, while highly personal, create instantaneous connections and are quite relatable. Perhaps it is the contagious poetry her works demonstrate and the general feeling of nostalgia of a time we can not recount, yet desire to.

Katrien de Blauwer was born in Ronse, Belgium and studied painting in Gent and fashion at the Royal Academy Antwerp. While she later abandoned her studies in fashion, this was where she first began making collage books. The self-proclaimed “photographer without camera” has been commissioned to create works for publications like the New York Times Magazine and featured in several others such as Tique Art Paper. She is currently represented by Galerie Les Filles du Calvaire and The Ravestijn Gallery.
