Marie Lund

Marie Lund

Marie Lund’s work offers a physicality that goes beyond the initial aesthetic appeal of her use of materials. The strong physical presence of her art objects dominates the space with an air of austere corporealness and palpability. The varying textures and control of space of each material alludes to a sense of synesthesia that is more akin to a mere memory of another sense of feel. The objects set in a new context contribute to a sense of ostrenanie and poses questions of representation and the objects’ past.

Born in 1976 in Copenhagen, Marie Lund received her BA at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture in Copenhagen and her MA at the Royal College of Art in London. Lund has had a solo exhibition at Art Basel in 2014 and has been featured in Frieze. She currently lives and works in London.
