Reza Hood

Reza Hood

When I first stumbled upon Reza Hood’s work (@cdx1919) my fingers couldn’t screen grab his work fast enough. Twisted, sinister and absolutely fashionable, it had me in entranced and I had to dig deeper. How could this work be so cool and this artist so mysterious? Upon reading Hood’s answers, it all makes sense.  He is cool as a cucumber…organized….. mysterious…. sophisticated, even.

Who are you? What is your name and where do you live?
My name is Reza Hood, I live in Jakarta, Indonesia. I am a graphic artist.

How did you learn how to do graphic design and how long have you been doing it?
I went to school for graphic design in Jakarta and received my degree in 2008. After graduation I was primarily focused on drawing and took a year class of fine art at Central Saint Martins. So technically it has been 10 years.

The description in your bio says, "graphic playground". If you were to build a playground in real life, what would it look like?
My playground would be quite exotic, a pleasure for the eyes.

Some of your designs have a cryptic edge to them. Is this intentional?
I supposed so, I like a little bit of mystery. I’m interested in the potential and possibilities.

You are flying to Mongolia for a week of solidarity. What do you pack with you on your trip?
A camera, a fine selection of music on my iTunes (in case of poor reception), a good set of headphones, and a notebook.

You incorporate some fashion in to your work - what is your number one fashion label or house?
Yes I just love clothes. The ability they have to tell stories and make characters….how they make you feel - most importantly.  I can’t really choose one to be honest, I can relate to so many brands!
