Rick Owens SS25
At the Palais de Tokyo, Rick Owens’ SS25 collection followed the rebellious spirit of his previous season while pivoting toward unity in the face of division. Where his Men’s SS25 collection, Porterville, expressed a rejection of judgmental conservatism, Hollywood embraced the city's contradictions, celebrating diversity and self-expression. Owens' reflection on exclusion shaped both his designs and casting, with a return to his roots in open-access fashion.
The collection drew upon ancient civilizations and industrial aesthetics, with models walking through an ethereal haze as rose petals rained down from above. The predominantly black and gold pieces felt raw, powerful—shin-high boots resembled leg splints, and cracked leather mimicked worn canvases. The inclusion of Parisian fashion students further underscored the message of inclusivity, marking a departure from Owens’ previously intimate, more exclusive shows. Despite the theatrics, the collection was ultimately about a shared sense of belonging in a world increasingly defined by division.
