The Life of Godiva
Like the tale of Lady Godiva, “The Tale of Godiva” tells the story of the birth and childhood of a strong-minded, independent woman. Traveling the world with a circus during her adolescence, Purjja is expressed as an enthusiastic and unique individual, who is more than life itself. As she progresses into adulthood she finds great prosperity and successful as a wrestling champion. The stills of Purjja amidst her adulthood exude confidence and the sense of self she has discovered through the trials and tribulations of her age.
As she approaches her golden years, Purjja is pictured living her life in retirement. Indulging in the luxuries of life; sipping martinis in her finest clothes, and participating in weekend casino nights with friends from long ago. This story is told through a lens of surrealism, which elevates the ideology that life should not be lived walking down a singular path. “The Life of Godiva” hopes to instill within the audience that though there are many harsh complexities that are mandatory to exist within the human experience, life itself is dual, and can be chosen to be led by desire and spontaneity.
