The Rat Race
Rat Race pays homage to our parents, grandparents, and anyone else who has fallen into the lonely abyss of the soul-draining hamster wheel. Cautiously highlighting the blinding speed at which life passes, this project warns that if not awakened from the trance cast upon us by society and it’s often capitalistic points of view, we risk waking up on our last warm morning on this planet with nothing to show for but a collective identity tied to our economic contributions. The up-cycled bath-mat tunneling represents the constant back and forth pendulum between work and home. Getting ready every morning for work, coming home exhausted and uninspired only to repeat this cycle till our golden years, and often beyond. The suiting fabrics featured highlight the tired eyes and drained souls of the victims of this continuous cycle. With awareness of the rat race we are all pressured to compete in, the choice to wake up and live life with vibrancy is the only way to escape the chains we have all revered.
