The words that I will never find

The words that I will never find

Based in Paris, Duchesne’s childhood imagination was largely influenced by Nintendo 64 games including; “The Legend of Zelda”, “Ocarina of Time”, “Mario 64”, and games as such. These childhood memories manifested into the lo-fi aesthetic displayed in The Words that I will Never Find. Blind-love, death, and sacrifice, which are themes explored in the short are juxtaposed against a childish environment and characters that resemble children. Combining tragedy and the complex themes of the video with the innocence of the animations make the short approachable yet thought-provoking. The somewhat unexpected rejection for Theodore, motivates him to write a love letter for the woman he loves. His inability to find the perfect words drives him into a sort of obsession over the matter, slowly blocking the sunlight shining into his life. As the very last bit of sunlight is blocked, Theodore falls asleep, never to wake again.
