Subverting the everyday was an important theme for Glenn Martens at Y/Project: A rugby shirt with silver nipple embellishment, the ubiquitous string of pearls seen embroidered on peachy tulle just covering the model’s modesty and the tracksuit jacket reimagined as an evening gown with masses and masses of khaki material exploding from the models waist. Martens is successful in allowing room for highly wearable looks alongside more avant-garde ideas. Excellent outerwear was oversized, masculine and occasionally covered in tulle. It was a witty collection with an accessible style that will appeal to many.
