The sculptures, prints and installations by Lilah Fowler explore the space around us. Through her works she invites us to reflect on our relationship and our experience of our surroundings. Fowler investigates the dynamics of landscape, including the manipulation of its effects and limits, based on our assumptions of what landscape means to us. Rather than presenting a factual reality, she creates an illusion to conjure the realms of our imagination. The different elements in her artworks are separated from their original context, creating unexpected pairings of materials and forms.

Fowler mixes steel, geometric forms, columns, photography, metallic colors, blocks and flattened forms to create minimalistic installations that examine illusion and exaggerated perspective. The works are often installed in response to their environment and simultaneously create empty space and physical form, addressing or working with the existing design within the space. Sources of inspiration and references include urban planning, architectural design values and overlooked objects in new environments.
