Using a rich palette of flesh tones, earth tones and primary colors, Mattea Perrotta plays with color fields to create perspective and explore relationships of form and space. Her abstract works, which are often highly textured and richly pigmented, reference human experience in the natural world and convey a sense of spiritual awareness. Also central to her work is the power of vulnerability. Much of her work celebrates the sacred feminine — rather than objectifying the body in any way, she adeptly portrays simply the beauty of essence, stripping back any reference to style, personality, makeup and other things that can veil the truth of equality.

Mattea Perrotta was born in Venice Beach and is currently living and working in Los Angeles. Having studied fine arts in school, she worked to strip away her academic, classical influences in order to position herself in minimalism and abstraction. Her work serves as a welcome reminder of the unavoidable, divine connections that exist within humankind and between experience and nature.
